Week 17, Day 1:

My lovely boss got me this beautiful contorted hazel to use in my arrangements. I am so grateful.  This first bouquet uses just one small branch but it creates so much movement.

Week 15, Day 3:

This boutonniere is made simply with dusty miller and a mokara orchid.

Week 15, Day 1:

Rosemary and lilac make this a deliciously-scented arrangement.  The theme here is a little more wild than the controlled pave arrangements I have made.  The shape is more organic and the arrangement has only one "good" side.

Week 14, Day 7:

Drying the craspedia!

Week 14, Day 1:

Blue skies, sea and flowers!

Week 13, Day 6:

At last, I got to use craspedia.  I have been waiting for so long! They are so simple, but they say a lot with their whimsical charm, which is why I chose to add them to this sweet, bridal posey.  They are in good company with green viburnum, miniature pink roses, and white antique roses.

Week 13, Day 3:

These photos are from a Paris-themed office party I helped my boss decorate.  It was my very first time to work on an event, and there couldn't be a better theme than Paris.  I loved it!  It was such a fun experience!

Week 12, Day 6:

This arrangement highlights the curvature of the tulips, and is simple, clean and modern.  The vase came into the florist's last week and I couldn't help but make use of it!

Week 12, Day 5:

My first boutonniere!
Actually, I wish I could say that, but really it's my second.  The first was for a wedding and I am waiting for the photos of it "in action."However, this boutonniere is the first for the blog, so it's a kinda-first.
I used wax flower, freesia and an air plant and left the stems exposed, unlike the first one which is wrapped in a layer of floral tape underneath a layer of twine.

Week 11, Day 6:

White camellias, so symmetric.  The bowls form a pattern that is interesting to the human eye.  In mathematics, symmetry and patterns are things of intrigue and beauty.

Week 11, Day 5:

Because the air plant has a fiery look to it, I thought that a lantern would make a great container.
Congratulations on your wedding, Donna & Mike!
I hope you enjoy these photos of your "potted plant."

Week 10, Day 2:

I was inspired by an arrangement by Amy Merrick from Brooklyn, New York. I love the different spaces created between by the wiggly stems of the peonies and ranunculus.  This arrangement is supposed to look somewhat sparse, so that you may observe the the flower and its stem in their entirety.  The way mine differs from Amy's is that I decided not to use lily grass, not to use a monochrome colour palette and not to pack the stems so tightly in the container (although I may try that later today!).
Starting next week, I will be working three days at the florist! I will get to work during the week, on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  Apparently, there is more customer traffic during those days, and on Tuesday, the new flowers for the week arrive.

Week 9, Day 4:

This lovely blue hydrangea was just waiting for me at the florist.  I weaved the roses, chrysanthemums, and aspidistra through the branches of the mophead to distribute more colour and to separate the central blue mass.

Week 9, Day 2:

Well, technically this is week 10, but last week I did absolutely nothing related to flowers so I think it doesn't count!
Since spring is really here now,  I wanted to make a fun bouquet, something you would give to a friend for an exciting occasion, like a new house, graduation, or just because.
I love all the colours of this bouquet, especially the dark pink anemones and orange spray roses.  I think ranunculus always looks quirky and adds movement along with the lily grass.  The pink tulips and white, vintage roses create a background so the other flowers are really accentuated.

Week 8, Day 3:

The florist says that bouquets need to made in 10 minutes! So I am working on becoming much, much faster.  Of course that means the next few posts will be all bouquets.
The floral boutique was closed on Friday, the day I usually go, and I will be taking a short vacation next week so for now posts will also be sparse!  However, on my trip, I hope to take photos of floral inspirations.
